THE NEW LOGO

From Medina Country Club Owner, Bill Cosgrove:

"As a new exciting day dawns at Medina Country Club, I am happy to launch our new logo of purple and green. The logo represents a lilac flower and the green represents a homage to the past at Medina. Purple and green have served as a wonderful good luck charm at Union Home. Purple lilac was my mother’s favorite flower and color, so together they represent family and friendship to me. That is what I want Medina to stand for."

Medina Country Club to Launch the Jim Wise Golf Academy, a $1.6 Million World-Class Indoor Teaching Practice Facility

Club forms partnership with PGA Golf Professional to offer high-quality instruction

Medina, Ohio – Feb. 1, 2022 – The Medina Country Club announced today a partnership with PGA Golf Professional Jim Wise. As part of the partnership, the club will launch the Jim Wise Golf Academy on March 1, which will include a future 10,000-square-foot, state-of-the art, four-season indoor learning/teaching facility. Construction is expected to start later this year with a completion date next year.

Wise has been a Class A member of the PGA for 26 years and has been playing for 47 years. He is currently Director of Instruction at Mallard Creek Golf Club, and before that, he was the Head Golf Professional at Columbia Hills Country Club from 1997-2013. Competitively, Wise has played in many tournaments in Florida and Ohio. He was a member of the Bowling Green State University Taxi Squad golf team and played high school golf at GlenOak in Canton.

Wise attended The Golf Academy of the South earning a degree in Golf Management. This two-year degree places a major emphasis on studying the golf swing. Combining his knowledge of the golf swing with his 30 years of teaching experience, Wise has developed a keen eye for the faults and fixes of golf swings. He develops a swing or recommends swing adjustments based on each person’s abilities. He tries to keep his lessons fun, positive and encouraging and uses computer video in every lesson.

Wise has built the largest PGA Junior League program in Ohio and together with his partner, Chris Reed, they have coached five teams to the National Championship. Their program was the 15th largest PGA Junior League program in the country.

“With all due respect to the many wonderful PGA Golf Professionals in Northeast Ohio, I think Jim is the most accomplished teaching pro in this area, and we are thrilled to partner with him,” said Bill Cosgrove, Owner of the Medina Country Club. “We plan on building a world-class facility for families and junior and adult golfers.”

“I am so excited to get the academy up and running at this beautiful facility,” said Wise. “I look forward to employing my decades of teaching and golfing experience to help golfers at all levels in Northeast Ohio sharpen their skills.”

Cosgrove, an avid golfer who purchased Medina Country Club in August 2021, also is the President and CEO of Union Home Mortgage Corp. (UHM), based in Strongsville, Ohio. UHM has been named a top workplace in America for seven consecutive years.
