Jim has been a Class A member of the PGA since 1991 and has been playing golf for 50 years. Most recently, Jim was the Director of Instruction at Mallard Creek Golf Club from 2013-2021.  Before that, Jim was the Head Golf Professional at Columbia Hills Country Club from 1997-2013.

Competitively, Jim has played in many tournaments in Florida and Ohio, was a member of the Bowling Green State University Taxi Squad golf team and played high school golf at Canton GlenOak.

Jim attended The Golf Academy of the South earning a degree in Golf Management. A major emphasis is placed on studying the golf swing during this two-year degree. Combining his knowledge of the golf swing with his 30 years of teaching experience, Jim has developed a keen eye for the faults and fixes of golf swings. Jim’s teaching philosophy is to treat each golfer individually. He develops a swing or recommends swing adjustments based on each person’s abilities. He tries to keep his lessons fun, positive and encouraging.

Jim uses computer video in every lesson and emails you a video of your swing after each lesson.

When Bill Cosgrove purchased Medina Country Club, one of his priorities was to develop a fantastic facility for people to learn the game of golf.  Growing the game is very important to him, especially young golfers.

He called on long-time friend and his former Head Golf Professional, Jim Wise PGA,  to help him build that vision.  For the last 8 years, Jim has been a full-time instructor at Mallard Creek Golf Club and has built up one of the finest junior golf programs in the country and developed a fantastic private lesson business with adults.

Together, Bill and Jim came up with the idea to open a Golf Academy,

The Jim Wise Golf Academy at Medina Country Club

The team at Medina have been hard at work to create a world-class driving range, indoor training center, and state-of-the-art technology.  The plan is to build a golf learning center that is unlike anything in Ohio.  Teaching will begin in 2022 but the magic will be happening over the next 3 years. The range will be redesigned and the indoor facility will be built to make training at the Jim Wise Golf Academy at Medina Country Club very special.

Jim created an award-winning junior program at Mallard Creek and plans to do the same at Medina CC.  His passion for teaching and his enthusiastic approach create a great learning environment for children to learn the game.

The Academy will be conducting many group programs throughout the year and private lessons will be available as well.  Below is the list of programs currently available:
